Two years later, Europlasma purchases the business and site from EDF, and thus becomes the owner of the only site in the world that uses plasma technology to destroy asbestos.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/li><li id=\"date329\"><div class=\"timeline-container\"><div class=\"timeline-textblock\"><h4>2003<\/h4><h5>Investment in a next-generation production line<\/h5>\r\n<div>Initially, the site had two fusion lines with a capacity of 0.5 tonnes per hour each. In order to increase the processing capacity and modernise the facilities, Europlasma designs a new processing line with a furnace and next-generation plasma torches. This third line (L3), designed to process 2 tonnes per hour through continuous operation, was self-financed by Europlasma (investment of \u20ac18M).<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/li><li id=\"date330\"><div class=\"timeline-container\"><div class=\"timeline-textblock\"><h4>2005<\/h4><h5>Inauguration of the new L3 processing line<\/h5>\r\n<div>The new line, inaugurated in December 2005, is now fully operational. This tool, developed by the Aerospace industry, makes it possible to achieve temperatures close to that of the sun and thus melt materials.<\/p>\n<p>Artificial plasma, the best known natural example of which is the sun, is created using a plasma torch, by blowing air over an electrical arc inside the torch.
